Comet 17P/Holmes in outburst was one of the brightest "stars" in the constellation Perseus tonight! This image appeared on Astronomy Picture of the Day on 10-26-07.

24 October 2007/ A-P 10" Mak/Cassegrain and DMK41AF02 firewire webcam - a composite of two exposures was needed to record the stars and the comet.
