sunbite original

On October 23, 2014 I witnessed a partially eclipsed sun set into Lake Erie. This eclipse featured a very busy solar disk, with massive active region 2192 at center stage. Next week I travel to see the total eclipse of August 21, 2017. A much quiet sun is expected.

This image was prepared from the original recording. The sun was very low in the sky, affecting the sharpness of the details. A colorized and inverted interpretation of the event can be seen here. The setting eclipsed sun can also be enjoyed in this wide angle view.

Recorded on October 23, 2014, process on August 11, 2017/ captured with Little Big Man, PGR Grasshopper Express 6 megapixel camera
